On Virtual Performing

I make videos about people and things I love. In this channel, I made video essays on the then emerging performing form "Virtual Streaming" - human streamer motion-captured and in-synch with Live2D avatars, which represent a fictional character designed for streaming. Combining theories from Drama and Film, Comic culture studies, Stardom and motion capture, I explore the in-between space of Virtual streaming: fictional human and the living character

In this video, I compared successful 2D Vtubers, the K-pop idol industry with 3D Virtual Idols ASOUL from China. I examined the differences in streamer agency and control over character expressions and persona, as well as the fundamental distinctions in performance between 2D and 3D live-streaming.

after doing several video essays on vtubers, I chose 3 vtuber models and experimented with virtual streaming myself. The shifting of perspective helps me understand Virtual Streaming on a deeper level
